01 - Spread 1 tablespoon softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
02 - Place two bread slices butter-side down on a clean work surface. Spread 2 tablespoons pizza sauce over the unbuttered side of each slice.
03 - Arrange mozzarella slices over the sauce, followed by pepperoni if using. Sprinkle Parmesan, oregano, and basil evenly over the top.
04 - Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing up.
05 - Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place sandwiches in the pan and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
06 - Transfer sandwiches to a cutting board, let cool for 1–2 minutes, slice diagonally, and serve immediately with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
