Brown Sugar Mustard Glazed Ham (Printable)

Succulent oven-roasted ham with sweet tangy brown sugar-mustard glaze, perfect for festive gatherings.

# What You'll Need:

→ Ham

01 - 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (8–10 lb)

→ Glaze

02 - 1 cup packed brown sugar
03 - 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
04 - 1/4 cup whole-grain mustard
05 - 1/4 cup honey
06 - 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
07 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat oven to 325°F. Position ham flat side down on rack in large roasting pan. Score surface in diamond pattern with shallow cuts about 1/4 inch deep.
02 - Cover ham loosely with aluminum foil. Bake for 1 hour.
03 - Combine brown sugar, Dijon mustard, whole-grain mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, and ground cloves in small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and glaze is smooth. Remove from heat.
04 - Remove foil from ham. Brush half of glaze evenly over surface.
05 - Continue baking uncovered for 45–60 minutes, basting every 15–20 minutes with remaining glaze until ham is caramelized and heated through to internal temperature of 140°F.
06 - Remove from oven and let rest for 15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The glaze caramelizes into this gorgeous sticky coating that people will think took you hours to perfect
  • Leftovers (if you somehow have any) make the most incredible sandwiches the next day
02 -
  • The internal temperature should hit 140°F—this is about heating through, not cooking from raw
  • Don't skip the scoring step; it's what transforms the surface from glazed to absolutely stunning
03 -
  • Inserting whole cloves into the scored intersections before glazing adds these little bursts of warm spice throughout
  • The glaze thickens as it cools, so brush it during those last minutes while it's still fluid enough to spread evenly
